This week has been a pretty devastating one in Queensland - and while most of my family are all a long way from that in Adelaide, I heard this morning that my step-sister in Brisbane has had to evacuate her home as the floods continue.
(I just love this photo!)Just over ten years ago, I was living in Katherine in the Northern Territory when it was flooded and I had to evacuate. I've seen first hand how uttterly devastating floods can be and my heart goes out to all those who have been affected in the rural areas of Queensland and Brisbane. For me it's the spread of water through Toowoomba and now Brisbane (an established city of 2 million people) that really drives home the severity of the situation.
What has been amazing (although in many ways unsurprising) is to see how many Aussies have got behind the Queensland relief effort and pledged their support. Australian's have the 'give a mate a hand' attitude in these situations and that includes a lot of crafters and handmade suppliers. Today, I just want to share the details of those who have pledged money from their sales to the Queensland flood relief fund - and encourage you to buy handmade and handmade supplies from these people to help a really good cause!
