Moody Blues - Fashion Trends & Home Decor Ideas

I probably couldn't ever commit to choosing just one colour as a favourite, but I guess blue always sits in my top 3 - it is such a versatile colour, blue could be anything from turquoise to navy to sapphire.

One of my favourites is a shade of blue is a mid-blue with a touch of grey. I have seen so many beautiful home decor ideas and fashion trends incorporating these shades lately - I decided to share some of my favourites here today.

All Wrapped Up

I have hardly had two seconds to stop and think this week, but that seems to be the normal situation for me. My most exciting news is that I have an invite to an opening day event at London Fashion Week - so I have to admit my head is a little in the clouds about that - which really means I've spent the week trying to stop myself day dreaming about what to wear!

I'm still completely undecided, but I'm leaning toward a wrap style dress. Thank goodness for such a simple way to cover up the folly of my ways (ie - over doing it during the holidays).
Here are some of the contenders (and some that I can just day dream about!)

And of course there's this very famous blue ISSA wrap dress - and let's face it - deep down every girl wants to feel like a princess!

Pale Pink - Spring Fashion Trends

I'm a little bit drawn to super girly stuff this week, so I decided today to share some very girly pastel pink images I've found over the last few days. I think with spring just around the corner and all the latest spring fashion trends appearing online and in stores - the flowery fashion trends and pastel colours are truly capturing my imagination.

Blog Love - Beautiful Blogs to Read

Emily Blunt in Dior CoutureEmily Blunt in Christian Dior Couture

I love finding great new blogs and seeing how other creative people express their thoughts and ideas in their own way on their blogs. This week I've come across some lovely blogs that are quite new and well worth a visit.

Rocio at My Fashion Dolly - a lovely lady who is well worth visiting, you simply have to check out her gorgeous, girly fashion illustrations.

Melissah at Scrapbook - a blog by interior designer, Melissah. I could spend hours looking through this girly, colourful and delightful blog which is just beautifully put together.

Liza at Hello beautiful street - a very talented young lady, who is very handy with the sewing machine!

Ivy Black at Vintage Stitches - a lovely blog full of vintage styled goodness!

I know that there is nothing nicer than seeing people start finding their way to your blog, so I'm sure these lovely ladies would be thrilled if you popped by and said hello!

Have a wonderful weekend! xx

Helping out handmade style - Queensland Flood Relief

This week has been a pretty devastating one in Queensland - and while most of my family are all a long way from that in Adelaide, I heard this morning that my step-sister in Brisbane has had to evacuate her home as the floods continue.

(I just love this photo!)

Just over ten years ago, I was living in Katherine in the Northern Territory when it was flooded and I had to evacuate. I've seen first hand how uttterly devastating floods can be and my heart goes out to all those who have been affected in the rural areas of Queensland and Brisbane. For me it's the spread of water through Toowoomba and now Brisbane (an established city of 2 million people) that really drives home the severity of the situation.

What has been amazing (although in many ways unsurprising) is to see how many Aussies have got behind the Queensland relief effort and pledged their support. Australian's have the 'give a mate a hand' attitude in these situations and that includes a lot of crafters and handmade suppliers. Today, I just want to share the details of those who have pledged money from their sales to the Queensland flood relief fund - and encourage you to buy handmade and handmade supplies from these people to help a really good cause!

Launching Into A New Year

Miss Dior_Girl with BalloonsI'm so excited to have a new year spreading out before me and I can't wait to start pushing forward with a lot of ideas that have evolved for me over the last year. I didn't make New Year resolutions this year so much as consolidate my goals and I can't wait!
Between my textile studies and making a lot of custom items, this last year has been a massive learning curve. I've had a chance to try out a lot of things and having just completed a uni assignment doing machine embroidery and embellishment I know I'm still learning a lot of new things!
Right now I'm making some new versions of items I've done before and I have a new project in the pipeline which I can't wait to show you all very soon.

Have you made any New Years resolutions? xx
